Where else cd one go to order Chinese food take out exactly as requested & not necessarily what wd be a 'normal' dish preparation; as I have food issues I knew the owner wd comply as usual; with my Chicken Noodle soup he put the broth separately as I didn't plan on enjoying till the weekend; I asked for a version of Subgum Chicken Chow Mein not even on the menu & made it with lots of celery, onions & extra water chestnuts which over crispy noodles is perfect & will last thru the weekend. I enjoy their version of egg rolls not overly stuffed and so tasty I don't even add duck sauce--not necessary to drown out it's tastiness. Primarily take out. Called ahead order was ready for pick up. I highly recommend the chicken with broccoli. Broccoli cooked to perfection and the chicken was white meat and very tender the sauce was delicious not overly salty. I also recommend the Seafood Special under House Specials a bit pricey at $17.25 but absolutely worth it. Did not care for the egg drop soup and beef lo mein was somewhat dry the boneless ribs were good but could have used more sauce. Pork egg foo young was just okay and the sweet and sour pork was very good. A little pricey but overall enjoyable service was friendly.
The takeout from First Garden has been on point! Everything that we order is delicious. The sauces are great and the food is light and fresh! We especially love the shrimp and broccoli, broccoli and garlic sauce and the shrimp spring rolls! Consistent and delicious! The store is clean and inviting. The owners and staff and incredibly accommodating and kind. It's a staple in the Guilford takeout scene!
Consistently great food from First Garden. We live about 25 miles away but make the trip because it's so good. Reasonably priced and service is very friendly.

I have no notes. It's your local family run Chinese takeout spot. Some of the friendliest people are working in there and they take great care of their customers. Food is always good and reliable. I also really appreciate how quick they can get orders out.

This is a take out place. We were staying in the hotel across the street. We walked, bought the food, and ate it back at the hotel room. The menu is pretty extensive and the food is reasonably priced, there's something for everyone. I think a lot of the locals buy food from there, since a few people walked in and out to pick up their orders, while we were waiting for ours. My husband and I enjoyed the food and the big portions. I had chicken and broccoli with fried rice and my husband had the pork ribs with fried rice. Also, we bought two egg rolls and we weren't able to eat all the food in one sitting.
Super friendly owner and they are open late. Lake Ting Tong shrimp, moo goo gai pan and moo shu pork are standouts! This is primarily a take out restaurant and they always make you feel welcome!
